Project Goals
Web Series Score
The objective was to compose a score with South Asian flavor, that brings out the excitement, turmoil, and humor of Ayza Akhtar’s modern adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Cues: Dude Love, Dip Man Finds Out, Chatty Times 1, Chatty Times 2, and Bottom’s Song/Dude Love Returns.
Specific Requests
Concepts
Feel: A youthful mix of American and South Asian sounds.
Details: Real tabla and other instruments were to be sampled as much as possible for specified scenes; an “awful” techno track was to be created for a scene in which the character Bottom convinces a carload of his friends to go dancing at a magical popup club named MIDs.
The End
Results
Logic was used to create the score and final mixes for the first two episodes: “Our Nuptial Hour” and “If I Refuse to Wed.” The two-part pilot was released in February 2017.
